After a long day working JLT, COPE, Safe Haven, and a new year planning meeting, how about a movie we can unwind to? Follow Me Boys, Ice Age, Major Payne, any ideas with leadership in mind? I need a new or old movie!

I have to agree with that 100%. A great movie, showing a man with true leadership abilities, as well as the stress that can come along with making the hard choices. And, more so, that leadership is not a popularity contest, as many unit elections can be.

 

The only problem with finding "leader" movies is that they tend to be about flawed leaders. That's what the story is really about. So, using them as an example of leadership carries along some baggage.

 

Personally, when I look for a movie to unwind with, I want a lot of stuff blowing up

Boys cringe at older movies. One that shows leadership from Scout age boys with lots of action: Master and Commander.

This movie shows leadership and teamwork. We use it for my councils NYLT course. Apollo 13 with Tom Hanks. Being a 16 year old, its a good movie. Scouts will be interested in it. And it makes the point at the same time.

Another movie i recommend is Remember the Titans. Again it shows leadership and teamwork. Good movie as well as apollo 13
