Bob White
We had the patrol hold a new election. (TheScout, lets say we used Congress and call it a draw )
VAordeal
my troop does it like this: A week before the election all prospective candidates for office (everyone serves a 1 year term and all positions are elected at the same time) go before the troop comitee and say why they want to be SPL or w/e the position is. Then if apporved (which is pretty much a garuntee as its the rule) you can run at the next meeting. The candidate w/ the higest vote total wins. In the case of Assistant Senior Patrol leader, my troop elects three as we are a very very large troop. (90 scouts)
eagle90
We hold SPL elections in May with the Scout taking over for Summer Camp and the ensuing school year.
TheScout
I always thought that ASPLs had to be appointed by the SPL. Yet many troops seem to have the ASPL elected and I was wondering why. It seems natural for the SPL to be able to appoint his own assistants, the scouts he can work the best with to carry out his vision for the troop. Bob White
TheScout You are correct in your understanding of the process according to the BSA program, unfortunately not all units know or follow the BSA program. It sounds like you do. That's great! BW
