sailingpj
I am curious how many events there are around the country that have been running continuously for decades. This was the 32nd year for this regatta. http://wrseascouts.wordpress.com/2012/04/17/sea-farers-regatta/ It is AMR's 60th anniversary this year. http://seascouts100.wordpress.com/2012/04/17/the-ancient-mariner-regatta-the-first-60-years/ This is Old Salts' 64th year. http://www.oldsaltsregatta.com/ Southwestern has been going since 1935. This will be it's 77th year. http://www.rendezvous.org/ Are there any other events around the country with that sort of history?
moxieman
This September marks the 50th Annual Moosehorn International Camporee outside of Calais, Maine. Information is under the Activities drop-down menu on the Katahadin Area Council Website: http://katahdinareabsa.org/ More info will be posted there as the planning committee continues to work on it. Here's an article from Scouting Magazine 7 years back about the 42nd Camporee: http://www.scoutingmagazine.org/issues/0509/a-meet.html(This message has been edited by moxieman)
emb021
In Florida: Scoutmasters Camporee in Broward County hit 54 years this year. http://www.smcc.us/ Lincoln-Marti Camporee in Dade County hit 42 years in 2012. http://carlosarboleya.com/camporie.html Tampa Bay Regatta has been going on for several decades. There is an invitational Boy Scout Canoe Race that's apparently been going on for decades as well. OwntheNight
Just attended the 100th Anniversary Pilgrimage and Encampment at Valley Forge in February. The longest continuous Scouting event in the country. They claim in the world as well. I would think there would be something out to the Original BrownSea Island. Maybe, some of our Scouting History experts would know. https://www.colbsa.org/pilgrimage-and-encampment/pilgrimage-encampment.html(This message has been edited by OwnTheNight)
moxieman
How could I forget this one. The annual West Point Invitational Camporee holds their 50th Anniversary Encampment this weekend, 4/27-29, at the West Point Military Academy in NY. Details: http://www.usma.edu/uscc/dca/clubs/scou/index.html Your unit must be invited to attend. You might want to save the above website if you think your unit might be interested in future ones. One of my district's units will be there this weekend--one of their Eagle Scouts is a cadet at the academy and is sponsoring their unit's attendance.
