The Blancmange
http://tinyurl.com/3b5rd6s I thought it was interesting that he is a 17 year old First Class scout. I especially like his father's perspective: "To see him be selfless and thoughtful like that, I was absolutely proud of him," he said. "But as I tell him: 'Hey, Mr. Hero. Pick up your socks.'" Hal_Crawford
That is an outstanding story. A reminder to us scouters not to overlook the scout who has little or no interest in earning Eagle. He might outshine everyone in living the Law, the Oath and the Motto. This lad did.
Tampa Turtle
One of our best scouts is our "worlds oldest Tenderfoot" as he calls himself. Made 1st Class at 17. Was good sport at Summer camp Mountain Man program (way taller than everyone including most instructors). Patient with the younger guys, insisted on being retested and showing what he knew with knots, firestarting. I think he is great PL material. Overheard his BOR and made me proud to be associated with such a young man. Will never make Eagle and doesn't need to.
