But honestly, ilford, you might do just as well hiring a local metal worker to stamp out a bunch of blanks with your own images or the name of each skill. (Include your troop # for good measure.) You could make a jig for bending, make it adjustable in case the boys want to fit their belts. (E.g., a boy might want to wear a leather belt he made at camp with his uniform.) The boys could be responsible for bending/painting the awards. As long as the boys understand they don't have to "earn" a skill award to make rank, there's no problem. The real question here is, are your boys interested in them? I think involving them in the manufacture of the award will increase that interest.
