oops? or am I havng a senior moment

Recommended Posts

Recieved the Nov/Dec Scouting magazine and on page 6 there is a painting (graphic) that just looks wrong. I hope that the professionals that pay good money for providing accurate information to the scouting world had a reason for what looks wrong. Since the page is signed by the BSA president, BSA Ntl Commissioner and the Chief Scout Executive I hope there is a history behind the painting (graphic). Please take a look and let me know what you think.

But then again my senior moments may be elongating into longer time increments. ;)

Am I having a senior moment on the Direct TV add?

The picture with the 2 WEBELOS has a disembodied hand right in the center.

It looks like a blue sleeve on the hand but the kids shoulder just outside the picture to the left is wearing a tan shirt.

Don't ya just love the airbrushed re-touchups?

...or maybe it is just for Halloween?

Obviously the artist for the magazine picture is trying to paint a picture about something he/she knows nothing about. Maybe this project was outsourced to India where the British salute of palm forward is seen as normal. However, the BSA program specifically describes the salute as palm down as shown in the on-line version of the picture. Sometimes "Made in America" is worth the extra effort/cost.

I had not yet opened the magazine when I saw this thread, and I have to admit that I looked at the picture for awhile and didn't get it, until I looked at the picture online. What did strike me about the print version (which should have then led me to the answer) was that the whole shoulder/arm area of the Scouts, especially the one in front, is drawn very strangely. Human beings generally are not shaped that way. This also was corrected in the online version.
