ManyHats
"During each year of tenure for this award, participate in a Cub Scout leader pow wow or University of Scouting, or attend at least four roundtables." What exactly is a pow wow or University of Scouting? We have a leader that took Baloo training at a merit badge university that "qualifies" for a knot. Maybe the whole program was called University of Scouting. So could you take any training at an event like that to qualify?
John-in-KC
Pow Wow is an annual supplemental training day, hosted usually by Councils. It's focused on the Cub Scout program, and provides all manner of program ideas, skills teaching, and administrative support to direct contact leaders (DLs, ADLs, CMs, CCs and MCs). University of Scouting is very similar to Pow Wow, except there is training supporting all four Scouting programs (Cub, Boy, Varsity, Venturing). I'd attend your District Roundtable and ask someone there, or else go on your Council website to find specifics for your area. Did this help? Basementdweller
One course does not constitute a knot, Scout university is ADULT training no merit badges are usually offered. here is a link that explains scout university http://meritbadge.org/wiki/index.php/Scouting_University
AlFansome
...and in our Council, we've merged PowWow and University of Scouting into L.E.A.D (Leader Education and Development). Gives a chance for CS and BS and Venturing leaders to mix, as well as the opportunity to take classes across the spectrum, which is helpful if transitioning from CS to BS or from BS to Venturing or to a district position. Going to LEAD counts the same as going to Pow Wow with regard to knot recognitions.
