Gold Winger
People like to point to "ditching" as a reason that we oldsters shouldn't pine for the old days. However, ditching isn't necessary with a modern dome tent with a floor.
scoutldr
Besides when the rain goes right through the nylon, you don't need to "trench" (our term) the tents. The old canvas tents weren't like that.
Gold Winger
Rain goes through the nylon? I spent a night in a tropical storm (no lie) in a Coleman dome net and stayed dry.
Slouchhat
Well, my leatherstockings use pup tents made of two rubber-coated nylon shelter halves. These are far from modern dome tents so we figure that some ditching won't hurt if done properly. You can see more about us (and our tents) here: www.frederickselous.blogspot.com best regards, Volker
