Philmont Hymn

Silver on the sage,

Starlit skies above,

Aspen covered hills,

Country that I love.

Philmont here''s to thee,

Scouting Paradise,

Out in God''s country, tonight

Wind in whispering pines,

Eagles soaring high,

Purple mountains rise,

Against an azure sky.

Philmont here''s to thee,

Scouting Paradise,

Out in God''s country Tonight.

The Scout Hymn

Ralph Reader

Now as I start upon my chosen way,

In all I do, my thoughts, my work, my play;

Grant as I promise, courage new for me

To be the best, the best that I can be.

Help me to keep my honor shining bright,

May I be loyal in the hardest fight;

Let me be able for my task and then

To earn a place among my fellow men.

Open mine eyes to see things as I should,

That I may do my daily turn of good;

Let me be ready, waiting for each need

To keep me clean in thought and word and deed.

So as I journey on my chosen way,

In all I do, my thoughts, my work, my play;

Grant as I promise, courage new for me

To be the best, the best that I can be.

May the Great Master of All Scouts be with us until we meet again.

On My Honor

(by Harry Bartelt)

On my honor

I''ll do my best

To do my duty to God.

On my honor

I''ll do my best

To serve my country as I may.

On my honor

I''ll do my best

To do my Good Turn each day

To keep my body strengthened

To keep my mind awakened

To follow paths of righteousness

On my honor

I''ll do my best

Scoutnut has the right one. Our camp staff sung this song at each closing campfire. Try 40 guys hitting the high note and holding it on "righteousness".Edited Part: I listened to the Burl Ives version and can only say that we held (?) out the notes a little longer. During the chorus, done softly, one Scout would repeat the Oath.(This message has been edited by local1400)

Way back in the '70s we closed every troop campfire by singing "On My Honor". As a Scout back then I didn't take much in life very serious. But that song always meant something to me. Today as a Scoutmaster, it means even more. Thanks so much for jogging my memory of the old days!

with apologies for resurrecting such an old thread ...

http://www.scouting.org/relationships/05-961/onmyhonor.pdf is now a broken link, and the sheet music appears to have vanished off the national website. On my Honor doesn't even appear in the list of recommended hymns in their Scout Sunday resources any more.

Does someone have this PDF that could be shared, or a location to find it online, or any source for the sheet music (preferably with 4-part harmony)?

Thanks!
