Eamonn
I used to look at Father's Day as just another one of the days that Hallmark or some other card company came up with to sell a few more cards. That changed, not long after OJ came along!! Not only was becoming a Dad a real life changing event; there was this small, tiny, person who really needed me for everything. It also made me more aware of how lucky and blessed I was to have such a super Dad. Over the years some of the Scouts I have been privileged to serve have looked at me as a type of father figure. While maybe it's not good to have favorites? I will admit these are the Scouts who wormed a special place in my heart. While my love for my son knows no bounds and is endless. I consider myself lucky and blessed to have got to know and love these kids almost as much as I love him. Barry is so right when he states: "I love this Scouting stuff!" Happy Fathers Day. Ea. packsaddle
Happy Father's Day to you too, Eamonn. When I helped my children come into this world, nature took me as well. Life would be quite empty without them. And I too enjoy the boys in the unit, although it is rather vicarious at times...I sometimes am thankful that the parents are there to take final responsibility. But I understand what you say and I agree.
BrentAllen
We had WB Course Development down at Bert Adams this past weekend. We normaly have a quick breakfast of danishes or oatmeal or grits to get us going. Sunday morning, the women on staff decorated the picnic tables, cooked up a big breakfast of bacon and eggs, and had a special attire for all of us dads. They had made very large carboard ties, with the WB emblem and "Happy Father's Day!" on them, along with a Burger King crown. They had printed out a very nice Father's Day poem on paper and laminated it, for our place mats. It was a very nice gesture, recognizing that we were away from our families that morning, and it set the mood for a great day! Most of us were home by early afternoon, to celebrate again, with our wives, sons and daughters. A very nice day.
