Trevorum
With the flood of newly crosed over fellows into our troop, we are now updating our email lists, an it's got me to wondering how other units stay in contact with their families. We use Yahoo! groups to host our email list. It works out pretty well although for some mysterious reason, some people have had a dickens of a time trying to join the group. Plus it provides us with a troop web page to upload forms, pix, files, etc. Does anyone have better solutions?
hotdesk
To keep in touch with our troop members we use a varity of ways which include: A. We have a Communcations Director which does the following: keep a website hosted by www.orgsites.com which does have an email list (we just don't use it) provide a monthly newsletter and mail out to the scouts and leaders the seldom make it to the meetings send emails from a troop address, on hotmail, explaining things in the newsletter and website B. have the PL's contact the scouts in their patrols
SemperParatus
We use yahoogroups also. You can add e-mail addresses directly without having people 'join'.
Oak Tree
Boring enough, but we use yahoogroups as well. We've tried to get our dens to use them too, but most dens just send their email directly and don't bother with the group. But it works pretty well at the pack level. orennoah
We use the list serve capabilities of our troop website. No advertising, that way.
