nutz4scouting
I have too do a FOS presentation. What are some things that YOU think I should touch on. With the donations to the Hurricanes,Earthquakes, fuel prices, etc. It is getting to be a touchy subject for donations.
OldGreyEagle
I would talk about how the FOS money helps the Council they live in. I would say I understood the people may feel "tapped" out, but this money benefits their kids and the local community
rkfrance
As OGE said. Keep the focus on Scouting. Last year our Council went to a DVD presentation. There were scripts available for any presenter that didn't have TV/DVD available. We have our FOS presentations at the beginning of B&G or R&G banquets. When done with the presentation, stay and mingle. As people line up for food, chat with them about Scouting. Keep it in their face, but don't shove it down their throats. Before the whole thing begins, know who the Unit FOS Captain is, and give him/her a quick "This is how I'd like to be introduced" speech. Don't let them start out with "Up next is our necessary evil, FOS" or something along those lines. Work with them beforehand to stay positive. mdutch
Make sure you know something about the unit before you present to them. Try to answer the following question: What service that MY TROOP USES is provided by the council, that could be lost if money for FOS is not raised. The last time we had someone come in to do a FOS pitch to our troop he spent a good amount of time talking about how the council needs money to run there great summer camp programs. He didn't realize that we haven't been to in council summer camp in a long time (atleast the past decade).
