I plan to make eagle next year when im 15. at that point, i have to give up my position as SPL. i would like to become a JASM. is there any age requirements, or any requirements period?

The decision of asking you to become a Junior Assistant Scoutmaster is up to your Scoutmaster. You should ask him about that opportunity and chat with him about what you would like to do once in the position.

 

My question to you is, why would you have to give up the position of SPL? Nothing says the SPL can't be an Eagle Scout.

our troop by-laws say that once a boy turns eagle he has to give up the SPL. i think it is so that others get a chance at it

i would ask your troop commitee when the by-laws will be updated. That rule should not be there. It is not fair and it makes no sense. If anything, an Eagle should be an SPL.

There is an age requirement for JASM.

You must be atleast 16 years old.

 

It is listed in the SM handbook

I agree with VAordeal! Why would you want to remove the best of the best from a leadership role. The troop voted in the SPL so they should be allowed to have him as their leader for his full term.
