nldscout
I am curious just what is your position in the troop? There is nothing wrong with making 18 yr olds ASM's, But you need to guide and train them also. is he scheduled for training?.
Vicki
Leslie, first off, you're right - some of the posters here can come off as condescending. Some don't seem to have read your posts where (on multiple occasions) you mention the availability of training in your area and that you DO intend to get training. Please let it be as water to a duck's back:
Hunt
You're in the situation--not too unusual--of trying to keep things going, and not let them get too messed up, until you get the training you need to really do them right. (Example: you will learn that an ASM is not supposed to serve on a Board of Review.) I think until you do get the training you need, you have to err on the side of caution, especially in terms of what this new young ASM is permitted to do.
