dcastro
Wow! Well I am glad I took a look at the forum for racing methods. Your help in this would be great. Our setup: 1. Best Track 4 Lane Alum. Track 2. Newbold Daytona Finish line 3. Derby Master Software 4. We have 40 boys racing Please let me know what format would work best. Thanks Dax
Torveaux
I don't know if this method has a name, but it is what our Pack uses and everyone seems to like it. We have about the same number, maybe a few less in our Pack. The track is run by a local troop that we essentially rent from. It has 6 lanes, nearly 90 ft long. There are electronic timers and some software program that sorts the cars and keeps track of their times. The cool thing is that the cars each race 6 times, once down each lane. It also sorts the heats so the fastest cars (average) race together in each heat. By the last few heats, the races are close and many boys can 'win' a heat. The top finishers really set themselves apart from the pack (sorry). The only thing I would likely do differently is to award a trophy to the 'winner' of each den (we only have one per grade) as well as overall trophies. Sometimes the younger boys place, but most of the top finishers are usually Webelos.
dcastro
Thanks yeah that is the Stearns Method. I think that is the one we will be going to. Now it is trying to figure out how many rounds to run. Thanks though. Dax
