West Point statement: “West Point and Orange County officials provided emergency services Saturday morning to the Annual Scout Camporee at Lake Frederick Recreation Area. Cold and snow affected the camping event organized by regional scout organizations. As of noon, eighteen campers had been transported to regional medical centers with potential minor cold weather injuries. mrjohns2
From discord; Freezing temps overnight, 6+ inches of heavy slush, another inch of freezing rain, 100ish collapsed tents (with people stuck inside), 50+ sent to hospitals, an official designation as a mass casualty event, and responses from local, county and state emergency services
Tron Posted yesterday at 05:05 AM Share Posted yesterday at 05:05 AM This is pretty normal weather for that area; I lived out there for a long time. It's crazy that there wasn't a contingency plan on standby.
RememberSchiff
Another recent Camporee with a severe turn in the weather - sustained winds of 20–25 mph, gusts reaching 45 mph, and a tornado watch. The adults quickly came up with a Plan B which they called a "Camporee Audible". "Due to weather concerns, the 2025 District Camporee (TX) scheduled for the weekend of April 4 was adjusted at the last minute. Rather than cancel, Troop 1880 (Richmond) and Troop 941 (Fulshear) worked together to hold a one-day merit badge event on Saturday, April 5. The event resulted in 46 merit badges earned by Scouts in areas such as Chess, Coin Collecting, Entrepreneurship, and Traffic Safety." I don't know what the original Camporee program was. Edited 7 hours ago by RememberSchiff

Found it https://shacbsa.org/coastal-plains-camporee Looks like Plan A was a scout-run, patrol competition weekend at Camp Brosig. 👍 Details Every troop must send a representative to the Roundtable to help plan the camp-o-ree. Every troop needs run a part of the camp-o-ree (e.g., competition, facilities). This year’s camp-o-ree promises to challenge the youth leadership, as well as stretching everyone else’s comfort zones. These events cannot happen without each Scout’s competitive spirit and participation.
