"West Point Scoutmasters' Council 61st Annual Camporee involved troops, both of boys and girls, from the Hudson Valley as well as other states. Lake Frederick is about seven miles from the West Point campus in the town of Woodbury, NY.

The event, sponsored by the United States Military Academy at West Point and primarily run by West Point cadets, is known as one of the largest Scouting events in the country, drawing units from councils across the East Coast."

Orange County Emergency Services posted on Facebook that it provided mutual aid to West Point for a Boy Scout camping event at Lake Frederick after a snowstorm. “As a precaution, some scouts were transported off premises to prevent or treat minor cold weather injuries,” Orange County said in a statement Saturday.

West Point statement:

West Point and Orange County officials provided emergency services Saturday morning to the Annual Scout Camporee at Lake Frederick Recreation Area. Cold and snow affected the camping event organized by regional scout organizations. As of noon, eighteen campers had been transported to regional medical centers with potential minor cold weather injuries. West Point leaders are onsite to continue assessing conditions and coordinate assistance, including warming facilities. We will provide updates as necessary.”

"Greater Hudson Valley Council based out of Fishkill asked that if anyone was injured or taken to the hospital, to submit an incident report."
