Eagle Certificates

What's up with the delay in Eagle Certificates? If they are waiting for the president's signature, why not use the one form the previous term? And if it is a design issue, why were they not updated when the medals and patches were updated. Those have been available for some time now.

My guess is that National always puts the cart before the horse. I've noticed that since I started volunteering in 2017. It happens frequently that now it's the new norm.

I find it amusing that the stuff that cannot be easily made, i.e. patches and medals, have been done and out for a while, but the item that can be easily laser printed we are waiting on.

Who knows; it may relate to the person involved and his idiosyncrasies.  Many Scouters had harsh words for him during his last administration, especially after the Jambo.  We will see.

One must wonder if, in addition to the other areas of focus, there is a perception within the Administration that a name change in the name of inclusiveness, as manifested on the new certificates and the new patch, is indicative of DEI/woke paradigms and slowing any assistance is a method to create angst before leveraging abandonment of such updates.

Well, one troop I know created their own Eagle Scout certificate template that looks like the real certificate. Maybe I can get a copy.

My understanding is that there is always a delay between administrations.  If there is an issue with Trump's approval, perhaps this is a good opportunity to move away from the President of the US as the honorary President of Scouting America and have someone else serve in that role.  David Montgomery?  Mike Rowe? 

I'm not sure if there is an issue, but it would be interesting to see someone who is actually a former scout and exemplifies scouting ideals as the honorary president vs politicians.

Back in day, I received both my Eagle certificate and medal long after my Troop Court of Honor but that's another story.  Anyway, when I finally received my certificate signed by President Nixon, I groaned to my Dad that I rather it had been signed by Stan Lee. 

My Dad was not amused.

I find myself wondering if we might no longer automatically call the POTUS the Honoary president/  Honorary suggests the root word, or so I thought.  Just saying, and just my own observation.

My Eagle certificate is signed by Richard Nixon.  I am just as proud of that as anyone.  Let's leave politics out of this discussion. The POTUS is the POTUS.

Also have a Nixon certificate.  Sad to admit that at that point in my life I doubt I even knew who Stan Lee was! 😁

Suppose it was instead My Honorary or Honored Scout to be completed by the scout if he or she chooses.  Scout chooses and acquires that person's signature on certificate/card. 

When I think about the signatures, some famous some not so much,  that I had the opportunity to get back in day ... who could refuse an Eagle Scout's request to sign his/her card?
