Also, not one call about FOS.

Adult: $25 only I am a registered leader in both BSA and GSUSA And our GSUSA Council does half-price day once a year as an early membership renewal drive. Resigning the complete family every year for $12.50 a person. To be fully transparent, the Background Check for adults is a separate fee ($30) paid directly to the background check service provider when renewing. But, and this is a big plus for unit leaders, I know instantly if my unit leaders passed the background check or not and none of the guessing with BSA until recharter. The other big thing at least in our GSUSA Council: you go an volunteer for one of their program events, you pay nothing as a volunteer because you already volunteer your time and training and usually if your own kids attend, they get at least 50% off or most likely to attend for free as well. Last larger event my BSA council asked for volunteers was 25% off the cost when volunteering and still 100% cost for your own Scout attending. And then they come and cry that they cannot hold events because they find no volunteers to staff them.

Interesting. Back in the day when BSA stopped doing that, at least in the council I was in at the time, I was told by the powers that be that United Way was getting on them because other agencies charged their volunteers. Our council must have enough cookie revenue as our troops don’t have to even pay that. I was a troop leader for about a year. I got to do their “recharter” which took <5 mins online. Also! Our council camps use campdoc and allow fully electronic med forms.
