Calion
Does anyone have any scripts for troop or patrol roll calls? @HashTagScouts provided the following one: Quote SPL: Time for rollcall- Bacon Ninja Patrol? BN Patrol Leader: Bacon Ninja Patrol all present or accounted for [salutes SPL] Bacon Ninja Patrol members [in unison]: Sizzle-sizzle- pow! SPL: Screaming Owl Patrol? SO Patrol Leader: Screaming Owl Patrol all present or accounted for [salutes SPL] Screaming Owl Patrol members [in unison]: Who! Who! Which is great! But I was wondering if other troops that did roll calls did them differently, or if anyone was aware of some old Scouting resource that described a format. Thanks in advance! qwazse
That’s pretty much the way we do it. There are different ways to handle if someone is not present. Usually it’s something like: PL: Five present, two accounted for. SPL: Who is missing and how are they accounted? PL: Bob and Joe are escorting Mr. Q to the medic to remove a fishing lure from his head. SPL (saluting): Thank you. [Patrol yells.] Boy’s Life used to demonstrate this stuff via their comics. I don’t keep back issues, and the online archive isn’t indexed terribly well. 1

5thGenTexan
I would be asked to leave if I were to suggest our Troop do this. Its "not fun" and too regimented. 😧
curious_scouter
Sounds fun to me... I guess it depends on how it's done. I can also make a hike regimented if I really try.

Too many people think that, though. Sad.
Eagledad
Our patrols always yelled their cheer when their patrol name was called. Then the PL would answer the question. It's fun when the patrols try to out yell each other. We did this at Wood Badge. The Patrols also yelled their patrol yell (or something clever) when they were the color guard during the opening and closing flag Ceremonies. ---"Troop Attention!, Color Guard Attention! "LEAD FOLLOW OR GET OUT OF THE WAY!". Present Colors!". Something like that. It always got everyones attention at summer camp when it was our turn to be the Color Guard. And some troops would follow with their own cheer when their turn came up. Everything in Scouting can be fun. Barry

I guess that's why anyway. I have personally chosen to not worry about it anymore and concentrate on improving efficiency of the committee and how we work that side of the organization.
