Armymutt
I'm looking for a jacket to put all my patches on. I have a bunch of TAC patches as well as a couple of CSPs from a now-defunct council in IL. Thought this might be nicer than the wool one because it has a hood. https://tradingpost.classb.com/scouts-bsa-red-hooded-jacket-with-bsa-corporate-logo/?sku=B63006
MattR
Just my 2 cents, but 2 oz fabric seems really thin to sew patches onto. I've never tried this so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
Armymutt
That's true. This one looks a bit heavier. https://tradingpost.classb.com/scouts-bsa-red-sport-tek-jacket-with-bsa-universal-logo/
The Latin Scot
Those are both pretty nice. I have been really tempted to buy this jacket; the fit and tailoring are really attractive, and since we're entering our rainy season, the waterproof seams are an enticing feature: https://www.scoutshop.org/eddie-bauer-commissioner-jacket-men-s.html
TAHAWK
"Waterproof" seams are almost as important as the rest of a garment being "waterproof" vs "water repellant" - both governmnet standards.
John-in-KC
Bemidji Woolen Mills still has a wool forest green jacket. That’d be my choice.

I have been thinking of getting a wool coat and sewing the BSA universal jacket emblem on it. The red wool jack shirts don't have hand pockets, so they are pretty non-functional to me. The Scout Shop seems to only have an "imported" red jac-shirt. Do you have a link for a green one? https://www.scoutshop.org/washable-wool-jac-shirt-612783.html

It looks nice, but it's also $395. We need a heavy coat here for about 2 to 3 weeks a year. I bought one of the red ones from our Scout shop locally. It will do for my purposes. They are made in Seattle, which is neat. They are guaranteed: We guarantee every item made by Filson. No more, no less. We believe in our products and stand by the materials, quality, and workmanship for the lifetime of the product. The product lifetime specifically refers to the time at which, through normal use, the product can no longer function in its intended purpose.
