5thGenTexan
This evening our Council had a Zoom meeting dealing with how our Cub Day Camp is going to work. Its different, but sounds encouraging. 1) They made it clear that Day Camp is not cancelled. 2) There is a going to be a program sent to participants based on age / rank. Apparently the rank program will be elective based. The materials needed will be common stuff people have at home. The cost will be $5 pretty much for a patch. 3) There will be a series of dates available beginning in mid June at council owned camps only. (In past years it was not uncommon for day camp to be held at city parks, churches, etc). BBs, Archery, Games, Crafts, Swimming) This will be $20. There will be lunch served on the event days that will be catered. They will not be preparing any meals at camp. Each station will observe social distancing.... 6 ft between shooters at BBs for instance. Each station will need to be cleaned before the next group comes up. Since shooters will be more spread out there may be more range space needed and more volunteers. Each camp can only have 125 people per day. Staff, Scouts, Adult parents A Scout may do the At Home portion, the At Home + Saturday activites, but not just Sat activities. Anyway, thats the Cliff Notes of how things will look here. Not ideal, but its better than outright cancellations, and seems to do a decent job of dealing with the current situation.
malraux
Our week of day camps just got "not canceled" as well. We aren't doing the send home program, but we are doing a single day event on Saturdays at the end of the summer at the council properties. It's not ideal, but its the best we can do at this point.
