Has anyone asked West Virginia residents, especially those in Fayette County where Bechtel is located, whether they want all these people coming in from other parts of the country? Despite a recent spike in cases, West Virginia remains one of the lowest transmission areas of the country. Are they seriously going to allow participants from the Northeast, one of the highest transmission areas, or other places, to travel to this facility?  That is opposite of CDC recommendations, which I thought BSA was following... 

Additionally, temperature taking is not predictive. A significant percentage of COVID patients present without a temperature.

I would guess not.  But then again, I doubt if the strip mining company asked the residents if they wanted the top of their mountain ripped up either.

If Mountaineer Council (WV) Get Out & Scout 2020 is any indication, the answer appears NO. Unit Weekends - Currently for WV Scout units only.

Is Camp Swampy going to refund for anyone whose self assessment, in the words of the song, says “Stay the **** at home”?

In addition, is anyone looking at those who registered for the Philmont side of this and inviting them to WV, or as I assume, lots of professionals are too busy to worry about the paying customers?

I think it's great that BSA, in the midst of all the rest of the problems we/BSA face,  wants to give our adult leaders some outdoor experience.  I am sure alot of the new ALs need it.  outdoor experience.    

F'rinstance:   Scoutson had been out camping/hiking with family, with church camp (very primitive and challenging), then went with his Troop to Philmont. He became the Asst.  Trek Leader. By the next time the Troop wanted to go to Philmont, the adult escorts (!) were almost clueless as to camping/high adventure stuff, so one of them approached Scoutson to be their TrekLeader.  By this time, he had earned his Eagle, was 18 and ready to move into adult life.  They made it worth his while, paid his way, and a bit more, just to have his expertise.  The shake down trips were fun, he said,   He came back with lots of smiling pictures and stories of how the Scouts were all "tenderfeet" and the adults were all "smartphone addicted".  One of the adults, a stockbroker by trade, actually brought a solar power charging set for his phone.  One of his stories involved insisting one of the first nights on the trail, the Scouts did NOT crawl into the tents until they had come with him, and sat some distance from the camp and fire and JUST LOOK UP.
