Fuzzy Bear
From the Scoutmaster Handbook, Chapter 4, The Boy-Led Patrol: "... patrols may also set out on day hikes, service projects, and overnighters independent of the troop and free of adult leadership as long as they follow two rules: the Scoutmaster approves the patrol activity, the patrol activity does not interfere with any troop function. A patrol activity without adult supervision should be allowed only when it has been thoroughly planned and the Scoutmaster is satisfied that the activity is well within the patrol members' levels of training and responsibility." Bob White
I do not know that I can solve your problem but I might be able to ease your frustration. First, when they take these trips, whose equipment do they use? If they use the troop's who is providing the permission to use the equipment and who is providing the access. Secondly, I need a few examples. On the times when their trip has coincided with troop activities, what activity did they go do, and what activity did the rest of the troop do. I will offer my recommendations after I see your answers. Happy Scouting, BW (This message has been edited by Bob White)
