70's-era patches

I keep seeing sanctioned boy scout stores that are selling 30's-80's era position patches. are these even authorized for wear on the current uniform? I think I have seen one person actually wearing one at a recent multi-troop court of honor (there was another guy also wearing a kilt, so what do I know?).

Theres a general principle of once a uniform, always a uniform that covers this in that it once was correct so it should still be correct. I currently wear the den leader PoR patch from my mom even though its different from the current version.

I'm still wearing the ASM patch that I was given in '82. A scout is thrifty!

Some of us have judged BSA's design changes to a lot of effort to sell fashion with little to show for it in terms of membership. It seems that once Uniforming explicitly became a method of scouting, there was a new uniform design being rolled out every few years.
