NJCubScouter
Well if a working group was formed to explore the girls-in-scouting issue, the press is pretty darn silent on the topic. You'd think someone would pick it up if it were true. It seems the BSA is being pretty silent on the whole issue as well. The only reports that I have seen about the presentation(s) on this subject at the annual meeting are posts in various places on the Internet by people who attended the meeting, or their friends, friends of friends, etc. These reports are not completely consistent. One talks about a task force, while others make it look like National has already done some studying of this subject, so I am not sure what the role of the task force would be. It does not appear that the BSA has issued any press releases or made any official statements about this, and you would think that they would, or should. They must know that people are discussing it all over the place, and it would make sense to make a clear statement of what is going on and what the process will be for making decisions. Maybe they will in the next few days, since in fairness, the end of the conference was followed by a holiday weekend.
TAHAWK
Not presuming to tell you anything you don't know, but what "would make sense" is often not the observed standard of behavior in human affairs. In that, BSA is all too human.

walk in the woods
I am not sure what the role of the task force would be. To lend an air of legitimacy that all voices were heard before the pre-ordained decision is approved??? Not that I'm cynical or anything .
JasonG172
I would not be totally against girls in CubScouts! we all have those sibling (girls) wanting to participate. Why not Pick up the slack from Girl Scouts!

You may not be cynical, but I am. Even so, I am not necessarily convinced that this is a done deal. I seem to recall another Major Decision a few years ago when National floated a proposal and then after an uproar and a bunch of surveys, made a different decision. Maybe they are planning surveys for this one too. We shall see.

Tampa Turtle
Don't get me started. we have 2 helicopter moms going to summer camp with the troop. The moms are so use to Cub Scouts and family camping that so far their kids have not camped with us. To quote the late Han Solo, and many others, " I've got a bad feeling about this." We had this happen and I had the same qualms but it did work out well. One was a career Marine Mom who was a great resource on homesick boys (said 19 year old men in a war zone were more of a challenge) and the other was a Girl Scout leader who loved camping and could not get enough of it with her girls.
