dancinfox
I have a friend doing a special project and wants to include a rope gate entrance to an area. Can anyone guide me to an area with rope gates or e-mail information. Thanks, Dancin
firstpusk
I think this is the best site for ideas on gates and other pioneering projects. http://www.hurricanedistrict.org/pioneering.asp You may need to decipher some of the diagrams. However, with a couple of other good resources, you should be in business. Get the pioneering MB book and the Boy Scout Handbook will be a good start.(This message has been edited by firstpusk)
Eamonn
Scout Pioneering by John Sweet has a few gateways and is a good little pioneering book. It is still available from Scouts Canada. However if you can get the UK original the book is a little bigger and easier to read it comes up every now and then on E-bay. Eamonn
dancinfox
Thanks, but neither of these have Rope Gates. What I'm looking for is a picture of a gate made with rope, not spars. I've checked all the pioneering books and they do not show those type of gates. My friend said he saw one at the 1993 Jamboree. If you've seen a troop put one up or passed over one on the internet, please let me know. Thanks again, Dancin
Eamonn
I think I have got it now. We used to call them Rope Weaves. There was a plan in the UK Scouting Mag. Some years back. Eamonn
firstpusk
Eamonn, I assume that your are weaving the rope over some kind of framework. Do you know when UK Scouting Mag had their article? I might be interested in getting a copy of the article.
Shell in WA- USA
Hurricane District is a good site, but here are a few more Pioneering Project sites I reference to. You should be able to find what your looking for between all of these sites and more! http://www.webofroses.com/scouting/pioneering_projects.html http://www.pioneeringprojects.org/ http://www.scouting.org.za/resources/pioneering/ http://www.mag-net.com/scouts/pg/gadgets.htm http://www.inquiry.net/outdoor/skills/b-p/models.htm
