Eamonn
It now seems that Beagle 2 is lost somewhere up there on or near Mars. For those of you who thought that the Brits. Were playing funny word games with the name Beagle, we weren't HMS Beagle was the ship that Charles Darwin joined in 1831 as a the ship's naturalist. Charles Darwin's father said of the voyage that "It's a wild Scheme - No good will come of it." Of course this voyage led to the "On The Origin Of The Species" which for many revolutionised our idea of life. The Beagle's Captain Robert Fitzroy was an expert meteorologist who founded what has become the modern day Meteorological Office in the UK. Of course we wish the NASA landing crafts all the very best of luck. If by chance they come across a stray Beagle do please let him know that we are looking for him.
