Just put your finger in the hole where the number is that you want to call and spin clockwise until it stops, let go and do it for all the numbers and the next thing you know, you're talking to your buddy.

 

A comedian was talking about rotary phones and how you would hate people with 0s in their phone number,  You curse them as you had to spin dial nearly 360 degrees.  That really made me laugh.

I remember back in high school when we had to make a number of phone calls to notify everyone of something.  No broadcast texts or emails, just everyone's phone number one at a time.  After a while I learned to dial with a pencil, it was easier on the fingers.
