LeCastor
So...when did Scoutmasters and other adult volunteers were green neckties instead of neckerchiefs?

TAHAWK
The (apparently) official answer regarding this still-official uniform item is here: http://www.scoutinsignia.com/ties.htm When? "the 1950's"

skeptic
I wore them on occasion in the seventies; also had one as an explorer in the early sixties. Have half a dozen various ties in my collection. Besides green, there was blue and brown, as well as the newer versions with designs, such as Eagles. The earlier ones are all narrow. scoutldr
The green ties were for BS leaders. Blue was for CS leaders and brown was for Explorers. For field and casual occasions, the neckerchief was always appropriate. When I became a Cubmaster in the mid-80's they had come out with a blue necker which had "Cub Scout Leader" embroidered on the back. I still have my brown clip-on from my Exploring days of the early 70s.
