dan
Mrs.Smith Have you noticed how everyone of them have ignored the question about scouts reading this forum? Ask Hops Scout why he does not post here anymore.
Scoutmaster Ron
I too feel that FOG's posts are unscoutlike and just outright hateful towards Bob White. Why FOG cant post without sarcasim and hateful comments toward other posters without just stating his postion. There is a way to say you disagree with someone in a scoutlike manner. LovetoCamp
mrssmith wrote "Purcelce, Korea Scouter and Trailpounder, Do you also read Playboy for just for the articles? Come on. Is there any kind of talk you would not tolerate around the campfire? And although its a free country, would you tolerate this from Scouts? " You just named three people who between them have approximately 60 years of military service, how much free speech they can tolerate. I think his constant stalking of Bob White is inappropriate. Correcting my grammar as he has done on several occassions has devalued the value I once placed on the public higher education system. BUT, if we can let homosexual activists, and atheist activists, and wannabe philosophers, post until their vile keyboards turn blue, there should be no censoring of the fat rude non-PC guy. Where's the hue and cry about those others, or is their message somehow okay for youth to read? As for an organized campaign - That dog don't hunt. MrsSmith
To all veterans: Thank you for your service. Now Re Free speech vs. homosexual activists, and atheist activists, and wannabe philosophers? Its so easy to hide behind the "free speech" mantra. Speech is not free; there are many limits on it. You don't have the freedom (without consequence) to yell fire in a crowded theater or to view child pornography. Anyway, I am talking about changing the tone, not censoring the opinions. Hey where did my stars go? I guess somebody didn't like my opinions. Hmmm....free speech anyone?
hops_scout
I dont like FOG, but I've lived with it. Mrs Smith, I'm turning this against you. You have 33 total posts. 4 of which have been in this thread criticizing other people. That is more than 12%!!! Now, I must head to the real reason of this forum. Eamonn
Serving as I do as a District Chair. and before that as a District Commissioner, I work with all the adults in the District. Some are outstanding examples of what Scouts and Scouting is all about. They really seem to got it. Then there are those that no matter how long they have been in this organization have not got it and in all likelihood never will. While I have to admit most are not as "Flowery" as FOG few are as outspoken as he is. I do stand there and hear them out. When they are done, whining and complaining I have a choice. I can stand and argue with them - Which does at times happen depending on my mood. If this does happen I normally get upset at myself for allowing it to happen. Or I just walk away. No I am not rushing away to read a secret stash of Playboy Magazines or even complain about how I feel they are mistreating me. Just as KS stated I walk away shaking my head. When I am in a real masochistic mood and really want people to beat up on me I wear the uniform with the yellow epaulets. Man oh man does that bring the moaners and groaners out of the woodwork. I don't know how many youth members we have looking in on this site. I feel that we need to give those that do a little more credit. I feel that they know that FOG is guilty of trying to rattle the chain of others. With any luck who knows they might even feel grateful that he doesn't belong in their unit. Having said all that. Bob White is a friend of mine and I do think that FOG is way out of order when he attacks Bob. Eamonn
le Voyageur
I wasn't aware that Hoppy had quit posting on this forum, what a loss as I really enjoyed his postings. Hopefully Hop will come back... As to FOG, I sent him a PM with an invite to sign on at another forum that would of provided him with not only a greater latitude to express his views, but also conversing with folks who are less than politically correct. Hopefully, he'll pay the site a visit...however, since that forum is an adult only site I won't post that adress here....however, if you're an adult and might be interested in this site, and would like to talk bare knuckle about current events, politics, and etc with no holds barred shoot me a pm.... evmori
Mrs. Smith, You asked "evmori, you usually sign your posts with a Bible verse (1 Peter 4:10) Why?" Have you ever read this verse? "Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve other's, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms." (NIV) This is my favorite verse & how I try to live my life. red feather
Just read this thread twice, and that is unusual for me. As a veteran (101st Airborne) and with my oldest in bootcamp, I will read (listen) to all but the most rediculous at this campfire. I have survived yaworski, and zorn patke and have only squelched one, the w guy. This is a forum where ideas and thoughts can be posted as it would around a really intense campfire ( in real life very rare) group of adults and some older scouts. Most campfire discussions do not (or rarely) include policy, religion, or politics. This one does and therefore is open to more disagreement and invenctive. The information provided here and the various methods of scouters here are a valuable reference to what is possible and I would hate to find this campfire go so PC that it turns vanilla. While I do not agree with all that is posted here and shake my head at times, I support the ability on the poster to post their beliefs. However, at the same time personal posts are best made as personal emails. Some time back a poster that was not a favorite at this campfire posted: "By pluratity and relative perspective on mores. And by mutual respect for each other, tolerance adn standing on common ground." When stated in a different generational terms.... it mean 'Get along to get along.' Listen, learn and take what you will. sorry, soap box is put away yis
eagle54
Fog can keep a plane from landing except on instruments. What are our instruments? Do we use the ideals of scouting-Scout Oath, Law, Motto etc.
Fat Old Guy
Mrs. White said, "Blah, blah, blah . . . . blah, bl-blah, blah." Oh Mrs. Smith, do you spend your life trying to get rid of people? You show up here wanting to get rid of an SM and now you want to get rid of me. You're not a happy person. Maybe you should seek help? If I had made negative comments about Satanism or Druidism, would you have been as outraged? I seriously doubt it. Do I think that you're going to read this? I sure do. Like Bob White, you claim to ignore me but you're going to be checking back every hour to see what my response is. TTFN.

KoreaScouter
1). Don't read Playboy at all, or any other so-called "adult magazines". (I know that wasn't a literal question, but thought I'd better answer it anyway, lest I leave something to the imagination). 2). I don't know enough about FOG to determine if he's an "all right guy". Nor do I set the entry credentials to allow someone on the forums -- that's ScouterTerry's job. That's not a copout, it's just a statement of fact. 3). I know that youth also access the forum. My son uses the Internet, and I monitor his use. If I didn't think he should use this or any other site, I wouldn't permit him to. Parents set that standard for their kids. 4). If I heard some things from Scouts that I've read from FOG, I may have a word with them. FOG's an adult, and is entitled by age to do things youth are not permitted to do, especially while we're trying to mold their character. One may argue that FOG is sometimes a bad example. If that's what you think, use him as such. I had a DE once who had no bedside manner at all, and the shortest fuse I ever saw on a human. He's not going to change, and I'm not going to walk. What do you do? Take him with a grain of salt, and look for the good. It's no secret that FOG and BW don't exchange Christmas cards. BW's dealing with it in a way that suits him. I hope we're not suggesting that only people we always agree with should be allowed to stay... KS PS: Purel; Camp Pupukea slots are filling up fast; I'm maxed out and hoping I don't get any Johnny-come-latelies...
