majrgreen
Our den is putting together a safety notebook since their is so many safety requirment and electives for them to do. This week I am wanting a page on Hand tool safety. Does any one no a link or have a page they can e-mail me about Hand tool safety?
Twocubdad
Try this: http://www.du.edu/risk/Tool_Safety.html May require some adaptation for kids. Look at the Bear safety rules for knives for ideas -- adult supervision, clear work area, etc.
packsaddle
This is dredging from deep within my memory but when I was a Wolf den leader, I did not allow them to use any power tools and I insisted on having a couple of other adults that knew what they were doing to assist the boys if they were using tools with sharp edges (planes, chisels, etc.). Things always went very well. I tend to err on the cautious side (when I was in school I saw another guy lose two fingers on a jointer). Some other leaders allowed greater latitude, not me.
