Its and international sight started in Romania (i think). but offers great networking opportunites. here's the link: www.scoutface.com my username is utschemallsannuk
scoutldr
Call me paranoid...Romania? Could be harmless...or it could be a phishing site for off-shore pedophiles, immune from US law. Sorry...I would have to say no.

Oak Tree
Sure, any site could be a trick. Including this one. But that site sure looks like what it's advertised as. As with any social networking site, you have to consider what information about yourself you want to reveal, but I'm hard pressed to see how this site would be all that much different from facebook. Kind of fun to read the introductions from all the European Scouts.

Maxwell
I heard Bob Mazzuca, Chief Scout Executive, give a speech on Feb. 9. He said that BSA National is developing a social networking site to be launched this year. By the way, his "stump" speach is on the web. This man is awesome. Under his leadership, I think that for the first time we'll be hearing more about what's going on in national.
Herms
I think the site is ok also. These are becoming a popular way for groups to communicate. This is similar to Classmates.com and Reunions.com and other military connect sites like togetherweserved.com. I signed up. May be useful some time. FScouter
Posted on another Scouting related site: I was forwarded a link to the web site scoutface.com It looks very good, so I forwarded it to our MIC 2008 tech people asking them to check it out. The response I just received is below. Bruce, This appears legit but IS A SCAM. Looking up the server/hosting information for scoutface.com revealed connections to a major scammer on the web. Whois information: http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/results.jsp?domain=scoutface.com Vasile Varzariu, the originators own blog titled Sex, drugs and php at htpp: //pozaru.com/blog/ The folks adding names, information and photos may be legit but the host is not. Their tech phone # is linked to many on-line scams. Here is one: Easy-Trasnsfer, Inc www .easy-transfers.net MAKE NO MISTAKE WHO THESE THUGS ARE. CROOKS, CRIMINALS, SCUMBAGS TARGETING THE UNEMPLOY, ELDERLY, STUDENTS, STAY-AT-HOME MOMS, RETIREES, AND THE INNOCENT. LURING THEM INTO CASHING FRAUDULENT CHECKS http://joewein.net/fraud/fraud-job-2006-08.htm http://www.scamfraudalert.com/f37/easy-trasnsfer-inc-www-easy-transfers- net-1100/ This site states the tech contact is a porno spammer: http://www.webservertalk.com/archive154-2005-8-1168369.html I would recommend skipping this one.
