Eaglescout06
For the youth and and the adult leaders in the venturing program? Ive been having trouble trying to find this information. I believe the youth is 14-20 but what about the adult leaders?
Gold Winger
In venturing at 21 you become an adult and can be an advisor. Actually, you don't cease to be a youth until your registration expires after your 21st birthday or so my aging memory says.
Eaglescout06
I see thats what i thought that makes sense. Thank you for the reply!
mdutch
Gold Winger's got it right. You are able to stay a youth until either the crew re-charters after you turn 21, or you turn 22 (whichever comes first). You could be an advisor anytime after you turn 21 (by this could you be both a youth and an adult in the crew at the same time?)
emb021
You become an adult at 21. Advancement stops. You can not hold a youth office (in fact, you should not be allowed to run for office if you will turn 21 during that time. This is rules for Regional/National offices, both Venturing and OA). The thing about being on the crew roster mearly means that when the Venturer turns 21 they don't have to immediately pay a new registration fee as an adult, but can wait until charter renewal. But the idea that they 'remain a youth' is false.

epalmer84
From the New Adult Application: "All leaders must be 21 years of age or older, except assistant Scoutmasters, assistant den leaders, assistant Cubmasters, assistant Webelos den leaders, and assistant Varsity Scout coaches, who must be 18 or older." http://www.scouting.org/forms/28-501.pdf From the Youth Application: "I am at least 14 years of age and have completed the eighth grade or am 15 years of age and not yet 21. Must have parent/guardian approval if under 18 years of age. Venturers and Sea Scouts registered in a crew or ship prior to their 21st birthday may continue as members after their 21st birthday until the crew or ship recharters or until they reach their 22nd birthday, whichever comes first." http://www.scouting.org/forms/28-406.pdf From the application for the Silver Award: "I completed all work on this award before my 21st birthday." http://www.scouting.org/venturing/awards/art/app-silver.pdf Bronze and Silver have similar requirements.
