buffalo2
Folks - Got an opportunity to present a session on 'Starting a Venture Crew' Looking at the VLSC material as a beginning point and have some ideas of my own, but would ask for the group's input on what else you'd consider important? Or might anyone have a presentation to consider sharing? Thanks in adavance
hops_scout
Make a survey or something and put in the local high schools. Then, have the school make announcements about them for you:) That's what our crew did, noticed it today;)
OldGreyEagle
Stress that there are no adult leaders, only adult advisors There are no ranks to work on, although there are recognitions to earn The schedule is determined by the youth I am sure I can do better when I feel better, under the weather right now
OutdoorThinker
(Aw, OGE, sorry to hear youre not feeling well) Umm, I agree that stressing the fact that Crews are youth led is highly important. Crews are what the youth make it -- trips, activites, etc are all on your shoulder for the planning its a lot of responsibility, but oh so much fun. And because it's youth led it means that as soon as you join the crew you can voice your opinion (speaking of which OGE, KiltedPhilopsher has an idea for the spring) Crews are a great place, because they are flexible (well, at least my crew), high school and college are a stressful time, but you can go to as many or as few events as you want to. Most importantly Crews are FUN!
