LovetoCamp
Most are High Adventure. We're calling our Crew a Rifle Team that backpacks. We shoot in 10 Meter Air Rifle Competitions. What does your Crew do? P
packsaddle
We're still struggling with identity. My guess is that once we achieve a critical mass of members, one will gel. My wish would be for something along the lines of Wilderness First Responders. But it's up to them.
LovetoCamp
They wanted to shoot and camp and do challenging activities, that's where the backpacking comes in. We're just ramping up. While the Shooting Sports elective will be a slam dunk for all our members, the backpacking and cooking Ranger electives on all our trips.
matuawarrior
Our Crew is High Adventure. We tried SAR a couple months ago but we lack resources out here. The members decided to go back to High Adventure. We have started getting our members SCUBA certified. Also, we are now fundraising to purchase an outrigger canoe. hops_scout
Packsaddle, I like that idea.... I wish we did it too:) BTW-- arent all troops supposed to be working towards being able to do that? I'm not sure, but click the Emergency Preparedness link on the www.scouting.org site.
packsaddle
I work for the military so I appreciate acronyms, but what's SAR?
hops_scout
Search And Rescue Kind of like First Responders(FR), also considered EMT-1 with proper training:) (This message has been edited by hops_scout)
CrewGirl1024
Our Crew's theme is Native American Lore. We do Native American Dances at different Scouting events and for different places around town!
LovetoCamp
packsaddle, After 10 years service as an Army enlistedman my favorite acronym is ETS!!! packsaddle
I quite agree with setting one's own pace. After all is said and done, my best trips have been alone.
