Division Commissioner

Not sure if this is the best place to put this or not, but what was a Division Commissioner? The Winter/Spring 2010 issue of "The Commissioner" has a good bit of information on the history of the Commissioner Service, which is also celebrating 100 years. Page 9 is titled "Commissioner Titles/Positions Through The Years", which includes Division Commissioner, which I have never heard of.

 

Also shown in that article are the 2010 commissioner position patches that are coming out soon. While I do not care for the new rank patches, I really like these.

You're right about the centennial commissioner patches. I think what makes them work, as opposed to the rank badges, is that they say 1910 and 2010, not just 2010.

 

I can't wait to get my hands on mine.

 

 

No idea what a Division Commissioner was. A basic google search didn't yield anything.

It appears to be used in the UK and her realms, so after a bit of filtering it appears that was used to be a position that was equal or the same as a exploring service team chair, from http://www.scouter.com/Archives/scouts-l/199512/0245.asp

After looking at the tall timbers website and the sam houston website, It looks like the division commissioner is a commissioner overseeing several districts. We use the term service Area here and he wears a asst. council commissioner patch

If memory serves, a "Division Commissioner' was the title for the head commissionaire of EXPLORING in a council before they switched over to SERVICE TEAM for exploring commissioners.

 

But don't quote me on that

Scoutreach is a Division inside the scouting movement. Scoutreach in my council has its own Division Chair, Division Commissioner, as well as a Division Executive (Same pay as a District Exec).
