sctmom
From what I understand you should first contact your council to find out the rules about sponsors. Each council has it own set of rules about what sponsors can and cannot do. They should also be able to help you with getting sponsors.
peekaswine
My troop has done ALOT of fundraising this year and we leave for Washington, D.C. tomorrow (6-6-02). Here's what we did. Our council allows us to seek "sponsors" in our local community. You can't say, "will you give us a donation" but you can say, "would you be interested in sponsoring our troop?" It's a stupid way of getting to the same point but doing it by the "Girl Scout" way. If your troop is looking to raise a lot of money here's a suggestion: Put together a cookbook and have it published by Cookbook Publishers. They send you the whole kit free. Order it and just see if it's something you'd want to do. www.cookbookpublishers.com They were great to us and we sold the books for $5.00 a piece and made a lot of money. Our books had over 250 recipes which is really easy to do if you have each girl gives a recipe sheet to everyone they know and ask for a recipe. Then you can sell each of those people a book because people like seeing their name published. Good luck!
