Ohio_Scouter
Knot-head, Yes and Yes. I believe that each person who donates to our scout garage/yard sale is entitled to a deduction on their federal income taxes as a charitable contribution. Once the sale is over, whatever doesn't sell either gets donated to goodwill or trashed. We use the income from the sale primarily to subsidize our high-adventure and capital replacement programs. For example, we just recently acquired a new 15-passenger troop van, a dozen new single-shot, bolt-action rifles, several new troop tents, and brand new certified climbing and rappelling gear. Good luck!
