I've waited for a few days, not really wanting to respond to this thread, but what the "HAY." For a living? I'm currently unemployed and a fulltime student. I had been with a company for over 21 years making circuit boards, but they decided to move the plant to China, and I didn't want to go. Looking for my next big gig.

Wow can't believe I'm the only one thus far. I'm a male registered nurse. Previously of the ER type for 5 years, but having developed osteoarthitis from a Navy injury in 1981 and reinjuring it in the ER in 1999 my Ortho doc told me I had to quit bedside nursing so I found a desk job as a nursing administrator for a federally funded research center. Also provides me more time for Scouting as I have weekends and holidays off.

I got a civil engineering degree back in the early eighties. Recession forced me out of that line o work. Then I went to work for a major airline where I stayed for 20 years until a guy ran a red light and tore up my truck and my lower back. Midlife career change, received my Life and Health insurance licence and am now selling supplemental insurance. Do you like our duck commercials? Before al of that, I started at age thirteen in a grocery store, worked construction, auto shop at Sears. The most fun has been in volunteer work. President, Lt Governor, Governor for Optimist International, CM, DL, ASM in Scouting, and President of local chapter of National Association of United Methodist Scouters. Two trips to Haiti for missions.

Indeed, this is interesting! I am a research scientist for the U.S. Army (no lie) and if I tell you more...well, you know. (just kidding I wouldn't do that) But in my spare time I also teach at a local university and quite a while back I was full time faculty. In the distant past I worked for industry...sweating long Southern days in the hot sun fabricating rebars for prestressed concrete structures.

ASM7, I very much sympathize with you. A few years ago, a drunk driver crossed the center line and nearly killed my entire family while on their way to school first thing in the morning. We (they) are still trying to recover fully.

TwoCubDad, good one.

mschwartz, I took both courses in two back-to-back summer sessions. Brutal! Because of that experience I take great pleasure in abusing my scouts by singing to them...shamelessly. Don't ask me what the connection is, I don't know.

I'm the chief cook, bottle washer, stain-remover, financial officer, sibling mediator, gardener, diaper changer, mender, mom taxi, school volunteer, and in my spare time a Scouter. According to my husband, that makes me the boss . . . or in Big Fat Greek Wedding terms, the "neck."

In my past life I was a certified legal assistant & professional legal secretary. 10 Years working with attorneys is good training for parenthood & Cub Scouts.

Sales and estimating manager for a landscape company the first forty-five hours each week. The next twenty-five hours (most evenings) I am Nursery specialist, stocker, sweeper, loader, and anything else for Lowes. I hold a degree in ornamental Horticulture out of Chicago and have served as a greenhouse grower & operations manager for the past twenty-eight years. Still find time to be Scoutmaster each week, go camping once a month with the boys, serve as Camp-O-Ree chairman for the district, keep the grass mowed at home, the pool clean and the flowers planted.
