Hal_Crawford
I just stumbled across this news item and I see the victim was a scout leader and school teacher. A terrible thing for his family, his students and his scouts. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090924/ap_on_re_us/us_census_worker_hanged Hal
SMT224
A tragic event. My sympathies to his family, friends and Troop. He was also an Eagle. This may have been an outright hate crime, or perhaps he accidentally stumbled across a pot production operation or meth lab, both unfortunately common in rural forest areas. Nike
In the end I think this will be drug or moonshine related. So sad that someone trying to do good in teh world has his life so tragically and evilly cut short.
BadenP
Unfortunate event indeed, it seems the Census Bureau is becoming as hated as the IRS. You notice its always the part time worker trying to make a few bucks that receives this abuse, and what is the agency doing to protect their workers, absolutely nothing. I worked for the 1990 census for 3 months, before I was offered a decent job, and I can tell you the Census part timers are not treated very well. I was never so happy to resign from a job in my life. My condolences to his family.
