DanKroh
Personally, I find it kind of sad that gay penguins in China have a better chance of becoming adoptive parents than gay human beings in some states in the U.S.
evmori
I find it sad that anyone attempts to compare animal behavior to human behavior.

OldGreyEagle
You know what, we havent had a good song for awhile and this is the best, and before anyone accuses me of highjacking a thread, heck its done by the animals In this dirty old part of the city Where the sun refused to shine People tell me there ain't no use in tryin' Now my girl you're so young and pretty And one thing I know is true You'll be dead before your time is due, I know Watch my daddy in bed a-dyin' Watched his hair been turnin' grey He's been workin' and slavin' his life away Oh yes I know it (Yeah!) He's been workin' so hard (Yeah!) I've been workin' too, baby (Yeah!) Every night and day (Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!) We gotta get out of this place If it's the last thing we ever do We gotta get out of this place 'cause girl, there's a better life for me and you Now my girl you're so young and pretty And one thing I know is true, yeah You'll be dead before your time is due, I know it Watch my daddy in bed a-dyin' Watched his hair been turnin' grey, yeah He's been workin' and slavin' his life away I know he's been workin' so hard (Yeah!) Trevorum
I always thought that since humans ARE animals (Homo sapiens, remember?) other, similar animals are excellent models for explaining human behavior. Or is that just another of those crazy notions they taught us in Anthropology 101?
eisely
How do we know that the instinct to engage in adoptive behavior by these male penguins is evidence of gayness? The article does not describe any other behavior that would be clearly homosexual. I don't know how hetrosexual penguin couples have sex, but unless these two male penguins tried to have sex with one another, I'm not at all sure that I would call the reported behavior gay. evmori
Let's see. Humans can think things through. Other animal rely on instinct without thought. Seems like a big difference to me! As different as night and day! Good song OGE! I always liked the Animals!
MichaelOA
Penguins aren't mammals, so... I guess my question is, can they even have homosexual activities? Lots of animals can think to greater or lesser degrees. Monkeys can understand and use money, and can communicate with sign language, leading to both prostitution and lying. Monkeys and elephants can recognize themselves in a mirror.

Narraticong
I liked this thread a lot more before you guys started bickering. We do that enough in other threads. Lighten up, would ya?
