frank10
Every day there are news reports about more deaths. Every night on TV there are photos of death and destruction. Why are we still there? We occupied this land, which we had to take by force, but it causes nothing but trouble. Why are we still there? Many of our children go there and never come back. Why are we still there? Their government is instable, and they have sloopy leadership. Why are we still there? Many of their people are uncivilized. Why are we still there? The place is subject to natural disasters, which we are supposed to bail them out of. Why are we still there? There are more than 1000 religious sects, which we do not understand. Why are we still there? Their folkways, foods and fads are unfathomable to ordinary Americans. Why are we still there? We can't even secure the borders. Why are we still there? The answer is clear ... we must pull out of California
Apache Bob
Wingnut - do you think could sell the state to another country and then use the money to bail out another "it must not fail or we will go down the tubes" company? Just kidding folks!
CA_Scouter
Why are we still there? Yosemite, Sequoia/Kings Canyon, Devils Postpile, Lassen, Whitney, Point Reyes, the Mendocino Coast, Redwoods National Park, Lake Tahoe, Desolation Wilderness, Trinity Alps, Shasta, Big Sur, etc. We've got roadside rest areas that are larger than CT. ;-) Back to you.. ;-) [ just so there is no doubt, this is just playful banter, no harm eh? ]

John-in-KC
Day after day, more people come to L.A. Ssh! Don't you tell anybody the whole place is slipping away. Where can we go when there's no San Francisco? Ssh! Better get ready to tie up the boat in Idaho. Do you know the swim? You better learn quick, Jim. Those who don't know how to swim, better sing the hymn. Tuna at the bowl. Fine fillet o' much soul. Whoo! Whoo! What can we do with a bushel of wet gold? kraut-60
Why are we...we? Have you got a mouse in your pocket? My wife is a Californian, my son was born there...Hwy 74(the Ortega highway) between San Juan Capistrano and Lake Elsinore...possibly the finest motorcycle riding road in the world...In-n-out Burger...all the taco shops that end in 'bertos...the Peoples Republik of San Francisco/Berkely. I think the above are all the reasons "I" need to keep the "Left Coast"
John-in-KC
I graduated from UC Santa Barbara in June 1978. I drove from Los Angeles to Barstow about Sept 21, 1978, enroute Fort Sill to report to active duty with the Army. The last time I was really back was in 1993. San Diego Freeway was so bloody crowded (I had driven it in my 1964 Ford Econoline conversion van back in the 70s) I didn't want to return. California ain't what it used to be. frank10
CA_Scouter - "[ just so there is no doubt, this is just playful banter, no harm eh? ] " Thanks for getting the fun in this... And you right about the size of CT. I went to school at Penn State and folks would ask me what area of CT I was from and I'd have to tell them we only had one area in CT. An hour in any direction from my home and your either out of the state or in the water. (half hour in most directions)
CA_Scouter
Hey John... you gotta get out of the cities. All the traffic ( and most of the nuts ) are in major cities. I live in the Sierra Foothills and its gorgeous. btw - nowhere is the way it used to be, eh? Used to have the city of Barstow as a client ( software ). Was down there one time and it was 103 at 10pm at night. yow! Saw a joke in Readers' digest yesterday... what's the difference between CT and MA? The Kennedy's don't own CT. Maybe that's Least, er. sorry East Coast humor... ;-)
scoutingagain
Well to be totally sexist, the most obvious reason to keep California is the girls. Or maybe they could refilm Bay Watch on the Maine Coast. SA
