Gold Winger
"That would save more billions, and conserve copper and aluminum natural resources at the same time." The last time that I checked, the penny was zinc, not aluminum.

FScouter
Thanks for pointing that out again. We can save billions on zinc instead of aluminum. While we're at it, ditch the nickel too and save billons and billions more on copper and nickel.
Trevorum
Time was, the cent was solid bronze, now it's copper coated zinc; there have been proposals in Congress to shift to aluminum. Personally, I think that would cheapen the entire dollar to that of a third world. Like the Franc or the Lira.

SSScout
What's the exchange rate for Yap Island currency? I seem to remember that the citzens there make their own 'money'.
CubsRgr8
Hey, hey, HEY! No denigrating foreign cultures or their currency allowed! Although now now Italy uses the ubiquitous Euro, the Lira is sorely missed. Back in the day, it was the most beautiful currency in Europe and nothing compared to the thrill of pulling a 100,000 note out of my wallet to pay for dinner at a neighborhood trattoria. SSScout
So this went from kvetching about the removal of a "God Rock" to reminiscing about Italian food... "Scouter dot com. Wat a grrreat forum, yes?"
