It has been a good visit.

I want everyone to realize that this column is under Issues and Politics. Someone must believe that sharing pleasantries has subtleties not easily perceived by the casual reader. So, lets not stress the group hugs. Place more emphasis on slapping everyone on the butt and bellowing, good game. This should reduce it to an Open Discussion.

There's a calm surrender to the rush of day

When the heat of the rolling world can be turned away

An enchanted moment, and it sees me through

It's enough for this restless warrior just to be with you

And can you feel the love tonight

It is where we are

It's enough for this wide-eyed wanderer

That we got this far

And can you feel the love tonight

How it's laid to rest

It's enough to make kings and vagabonds

Believe the very best

There's a time for everyone if they only learn

That the twisting kaleidoscope moves us all in turn

There's a rhyme and reason to the wild outdoors

When the heart of this star-crossed voyager beats in time with yours

Did someone say pie?

So bye bye Miss American pie

Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry

And good old boys are drinking whiskey and rye

Singing this will be the day that I die

I'll take apple with a big ole slab of extra sharp cheddar cheese, please!

Hey, I got flack for Rocky Horror references! Watch it with the Elton John lyrics!

Butt seriously folks - Scouting is like the Hotel California - you can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave. So it's best to just keep playing in the band...

"Some folks look for answers, others look for fights

Some folks up in tree tops, just looking for their kites

I can tell your future, whoa just look what's in your hand

I can't stop for nothing, I'm just playing in the band

[chorus]

Standing on a tower, world at my command

You just keep a-turning, while I'm playing in the band

If a man among you, got no sin upon his hand

Let him cast a stone at me for playing in the band

[chorus]

Playing, like a wave upon the sand"

I don't remember if I have posted this here but I do believe it says exactly what groups like this are.

Your face, your smile, I have never seen

I don't know the color of your skin

Your voice and laughter I have never heard

I don't know if it's soft or loud

Your hugs I have never felt

I don't know the strength of your arms

Your hand I've never touched

I don't know if it's calloused or worn

But to me you are my Friend

Dearer and sweeter than many I've found

The question comes to me, "How can that be?"

You don't know a face, a touch or a sound

But is it the physical nature of a person

That causes me to call you my "My Friend"

Or the feel of a touch or strength of a hug?

I don't need those for you to be my Friend

You have shared with me the words of strength

At times I have felt weak and worn

You have brought me a smile, a laugh

Uplifting me and bringing me joy

You have lent an ear to me and listened

Then gently guided and directed me with your words

You have hugged me tight and wiped away my tears

Then generously gave to me above and beyond

You are more to me than just words on a screen

For behind those words is a person who cares

A person with feelings, a tear and a laugh

Who holds my mind safe and secure

For even though I don't know your face, your touch

I feel and see you in my mind

O gallant sight and goodly,

It was that morn, I ween,

To see these lords their barbed steeds

Rein proudly o'er the green!

Twelve knights on each attended,

Was each a knight renown'd,

Had Saxon slain, and Saracen,

And sat at Table Round.

Thus mused Sir Arthur as he turned

His horse's head, and sighed,

Then cheered his host and headlong plunged

Midmost the battle's tide!

Him followed knights three hundred,

Through Christentie renown'd,

The bravest knights in Logres-land,

And of the Table Round.
