Getting BSA Bylaws, Rules & Regs

I understand your frustration--I needed a copy of the Rules & Regs myself.

 

I was able to get my own copy of them from my council office. Inside the front cover, it says you can order them for $1.50 each (which includes S&H) by mailing to BSA, Mail/Purchasing S100, 1325 West Walnut Hill Lane PO Box 152079, Irving, TX 75015-2079. Make checks payable to Boy Scouts of America Account 79005-0260. Charter and Bylaws order number is 57-491, Rules and Regs are 57-492. (If I were you, I'd order both since the Rules and Regs refer to the bylaws).

If you try and order them, they will return your order and tell you to see your CE. They won't sell them to the public. I and several others have tried.

Now that is strange. Did they offer a reason?

Bylaws are unique to the council. There are generic bylaws suggested by the national org, which are modified as needed by the local council.

The reason given was simple. Rules and Regs get updated on a regular basis. The reason national refuses to sell copies is they don't want outdated copies floating around.

 

See your CE and copy what part you need, its open to read. If you have ever read them they are about as dull as they get and mostly LAWYER speak.
