perdidochas
Cubs are allowed to go sailing, just not as a unit activity. They can do it as a council/district activity (just like canoeing, BB guns, Archery, Sling Shots, Kayaking, Motor Boating, Rafting). You have to remember. Scouting has to worry about insurance and liability. That's why they keep the above to Council/District activities. Also, what may be appropriate for you and yours, may not be appropriate for Cub Scouts in general. http://www.scouting.org/filestore/pdf/34416_Insert_Web.pdf
BrentAllen
Sablanck, Our council usually has a "Certification Saturday" twice a year for those who want to get certified to run a BB or Archery range. You might ask your program center if they offer something similar. There are also fairly new classes for water activities: BSA Aquatics Supervision: Swimming & Water Rescue BSA Aquatics Supervision: Paddle Craft Safety Our council is offering these at Boy Scout Summer Camp.
