BadenP
SM steve, what SMT224 is saying is what I was trying to say as well, that these courses really are much too involved in their present form to ever become required training, maybe if they are revised somewhat, sorry for the confusion. SMsteve
Thanks everyone for the kind replies and discussion. It will be interesting to see what happens with these two courses in the future. BadenP, No worries. Be happy. Hal, Sorry to hear about your left-out Scout. It is interesting to note that the Safety Afloat guidelines as listed in the "new" Canoeing MB book allow for a Scout to be in a canoe with an adult swimmer. I wonder if that is an old rule that crept into the new book, or a new rule that we don't yet see elsewhere. (Or just an error?)
emb021
FWIW- I picked up patches at my local Scout Shop for these 2 training courses: Aquatics Supervision/Swimming and Water Rescue, Aquatics Supervision/Paddle Craft Safety. Wasn't sure what they were for, but was going to add it to my collection of national patches.
