Fehler
Raingutter Regatta question: Do you have the Cubs use a straw when blowing the boat down the gutter, or do they go without? Our Pack has used the straws in the past, but I see from youtube and from my memory we didn't use straws. Is there a "right" or "wrong" way? SeattlePioneer
Hello Fehler, I'm hoping that this is the biggest issue your pack has to deal with!
ScoutNut
No right or wrong way. However, it is easier for the little guys to direct the air toward the sail with a straw. It also keeps them a bit further away from the gutter.
suzisk8
We didn't use straws for the Pack and the Day Camp. The boys were fine, in fact they liked getting wet. Make sure they wear their activity uniforms (t-shirts) that day. The key is gluing the sails to the mast so they don't go twirly whirly around the mast when blown. Oh, and one big key to a good boat, polyurethane. Did that with my son's boat and a spare boat I made (which was good because a boy needed one), my son placed 1st, spare boat placed 3rd. scouts-a-lot
We always used straws but you have to watch that they do not use them to push their boat.
