WarrenW
Hi Everyone, I noticed at my council they do not have any more of the pack trainer knot awards available. And on the scoutstuff.org site they do not have it listed as one of the knot awards on their site. Does anyone know if they did away with this? Thanks! jhankins
I just got mine a month ago, so I'm guessing it's a restricted item on scoutstuff.org, and the council probably just doesn't give many of them to recipients
SaxTeacher
The Pack Trainer Award (and associated knot) is still available, but based on this article on the national scouting web site, it will be going away soon. The article says that BSA is consolidating (not eliminating) several cub scouter awards. Pack Trainers will still be able to earn an award, but they will earn the Scouter Training Award, with a cub scouting device on it, rather than a separate Pack Trainer Award and knot. http://www.cpds.org/Docs/Cub_Scout_Adult_Leader_Awards_to_be_Consolidated.pdf The original article appeared on the BSA web site in the "Training Times" newsletter at http://scouting.org/Training/TrainingUpdates/Archives/201111.aspx (it's the fourth article down in the newsletter) but did not specify any phase out date for the old knots. So if you are close to earning one of the knots that's about to be phased out, best to apply for it ASAP!(This message has been edited by SaxTeacher)
Eagle92
If you got a national scout shop nearby, call and ask them if they have any. If they do not, ask to see if they can call other nationals stores to see if they have any and they can ship to your store, or to you. We use to do this all the time with discontinued items. FWIW, I'd buy a few.
click23
If your local scout shop is out, looks like they are not restricted on scoutstuff.org http://www.scoutstuff.org/pack-trainer-knot.html
Papadaddy
In my observation, few people wear the little devices...like service stars, it becomes bothersome to take them off every time the shirt needs washing...or risk losing them in the wash.
